Home / Approach
Planning first. Investments second. Patience always.
Our process is unhurried by design. Most families spend six to eight weeks with us before a single dollar moves.
Discovery
We learn what you have, what you want, and what keeps you up at night. We gather statements, tax returns and estate documents, and we listen more than we talk.
You leave with a clear summary of where you stand today and the questions your plan needs to answer.
The written plan
We model retirement timing, spending, taxes and legacy goals, and stress-test them against poor markets and long lives.
You receive a plain-English plan with specific recommendations, prioritized, and the reasoning behind each.
Implementation
We open accounts at an independent custodian, transition investments tax-efficiently and coordinate with your CPA and attorney.
Nothing happens without your sign-off, and you can see every account online from day one.
Stewardship
Twice-yearly reviews, an annual tax projection and a plan update whenever life changes — a sale, an inheritance, a grandchild.
Between meetings, your partner and associate are a phone call away.
Four principles we won't trade away.
Your plan sets the risk
We take only as much market risk as your goals require. Not as much as you can stomach.
Costs compound too
Every basis point of fees is a basis point of return you don't keep. We use low-cost funds and say so.
Taxes are a lifetime number
We optimize over decades, not one tax year, even when that means paying a little more now.
Behavior beats brilliance
The most valuable thing we do is help clients stay invested through hard markets.
A simple retirement projection
The same kind of first look we take in a discovery meeting, simplified.
Hypothetical illustration only. Assumes a constant annual return, monthly compounding, 2.5% inflation and a 4% annual withdrawal rate; ignores taxes, fees and Social Security. Actual returns vary and may be negative. Not investment advice.
A first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
Forty-five minutes, in our office or by video. Bring your questions; we'll bring a pot of coffee and a blank page.
